Hi, I’m Katie Nelson, Ph.D.
I am a cultural anthropologist and an anthropology instructor at Inver Hills Community College.
I study identity, belonging and citizenship(s) among migrant and undocumented populations in the U.S., Mexico and Morocco. I am particularly interested in examining how migrants forge a sense of identity and belonging in the contexts of national discourses that problematize their presence.
I speak the Spanish and Portuguese languages and am currently learning French and Arabic.
